Tree Planting Project

Soon or later, our world is going to overheat due to deforestation, therefore as a community we need to be doing something to look after the globe. As already shown on the map above, Tembure village is already in a very bad state in regards to deforestation. The goal of the project is to bring back a green belt to the village. The first phase of the project is to provide five fruit trees to each household at zero cost. This is in support to 5 day compaign as advised by the World Health Organisation , that eating 5 fruits a day reduces risks of serious heath problems. The committee members have so far acquired 250 fruit trees which are going to be distributed to the villagers for free. They will educated on how to take care of the trees and inspection will be done by the village committee.

As of now, the community has contributed through family well wishers and has raised 180US dollars and purchased 61 Lychee trees, 61 Walnuts and 195 Pineapple shoots. Our Tree planting Chairman who also an experienced graduate in tree management travelled 300km to distribute and demonstrate how to take care of the the trees.

bio-gas

Soon after the execution first project, there is proposal to start bio-gas projects to reduce deforestation and recycle organic materials. We are going use simple and cheap material to start the project.  The project teams are still researching on after gathering all the required information, a pilot project will be executed. The project will engage the government to make we are inline with all local legislatures.

Recycling

Recycling is one of the critical area that the village is aiming to undertake. Above, Mr Tapera Tembure  gathering empty beer plastic bottles to be recycled as tree planting bottle.

The village is also working on establishing an incinerator to dispose all plastic materials. This is part of the drive to help the earth.

CRECHE CONSTRUCTION

brick moulding

Childcare is one of  the largest obstacle in Africa for women's participation in other developmental projects. At the same time, the academic foundation for children determines their future. The distance travelled by small children to attend preschool is near 8 km every day. With cases of child abuse and vulnerabilities, most children will only attend primary education and not preschool because of distances from their homestead. The Tembure Development Community through its subsidiaries came with a plan to build a Creche for the village.

This project is non-donor funded but members of the Tembure COmmunity Development are funding in cash and kind for the construction of the preschool. This has also attracted neighbouring villages as they will benefit from the project. The headman has mobilised his neighbours and more people are participating in labour.

As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
